Ski Y2K!

Been too busy to join us this year on our trips to Ski Liberty, Roundtop and Whitetail? Fear not, here are some photos to help you feel like you were there!

Well, I had to cancel the trip to Blue Knob due to "clement" weather. It was just too nice! If things cool down again, we may throw together an impromptu trip sometime this month.

For now, why not just sit back and relive this year's trips by checking out all the photos and we'll see you next year!

Ski Liberty (Again!) - February 24, 2000

Five fun-loving souls made the trip out to Ski Liberty last week. The weather was sunny and exceptionally warm, but the snow remained ski-able until early afternoon. For the first time, every slope at Ski Liberty was open including the never-used-before Sidewinder. Bare spots and ice were scarce as were other skiers. Lift lines were non-existent as well. Everyone agreed that this was "one of the best ski days ever!"

After a few years off, Mary still remembers how to ski.

Ski Whitetail - February 10, 2000

Three fun-loving souls made the trip out to Whitetail last week. The weather was mostly sunny and warm which made the snow a bit slushy and slow - perfect for building up those leg muscles! Once the clouds rolled in, the snow firmed up and the skiing was much better. There was still plenty of snow to cover the slopes except for a few thin patches. Special thanks to Claudia Rohardt for remembering to bring her camera! Average lift line wait - 1 second!!

Ski Roundtop - January 28, 2000

The trip to ski Roundtop was great. Only two of us went which was probably due to the fact that Washington was still digging out of the first significant snowfall in over four years. Apologies for not being able to get a reminder email sent out, but no one was at work to read it anyway. The clear skies gave an unobstructed view of Three Mile Island a few miles away and for the first time in a long while, we got to ski on a base of real snow. It was also nice seeing snow all around us in the distance. Average lift line wait - five seconds.

Yes, that's really snow on the slopes at Ski Roundtop. That's Tom diving out of the sun.

Ski Liberty - January 14, 2000

Four brave skiers went on the trip to Ski Liberty. The sky was clear, but the temperature was in the 20's. Liberty had their snow blowers running all day in preparation for the weekend crowds. As usual, it was a little odd sking down strips of white in the middle of a brown and green mountain, but it was a lot of fun and the slopes were clear. Average lift line wait - five seconds.

Don't look behind you! You never know who could be trying to run you off the slopes. In this case, it's Tom.
